The Spring 2008 Fingerstyle Showcase concert on March 11 had four first time participants including Brandon Laflin, Jonathan Firey, Eddie Watts, and Rick Priest.  John Hamlin and ORU student Tim Schaefer made their second appearance and Brandon Vaverka and Johnny Beard made their third appearance.  Also in the lineup was one of this year's ORU guitar ensembles.

Sixteen year old Brandon Vaverka from Enid started the night off with a couple of classical pieces followed by John Hamlin, the guitar instructor at Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas who played a couple of original tunes in the folk, blues genre.  Next up was Brandon Laflin, a local guitar instructor and aspiring artist who specializes in alternate tunings and "new age" slap and tap techniques.  He was followed by Rick Priest, a network engineer at EDS who played a couple of flamenco tunes and Eddie Watts, a singer/songwriter/fingerstyle artist who sang one original song and played another.  The ORU guitar ensemble was next with a celtic piece and a series of Hungarian pieces.  Tim Schaefer, an ORU guitar student and a local instructor/performer followed with a Villa-Lobos piece and then Jonathan Firey from Firey Music in Sand Springs made his TGS debut with a hymn and an original.  Closing the night out was Reflejos Flamencos, a flamenco group featuring Johnny Beard on guitar, Lexi Allen dancing, and Dylan Allen on plamas.  Thanks again to all who attended and participated for making the evening a success.
